As a little girl, I conducted symphonies in my room during playtime. I danced to musical theatre classics like “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” and “Calamity Jane.” I drove my brothers crazy playing the piano by ear before I buckled down to learn how to read music. I sung my lungs out in the mystical acoustics of the shower in the shared bathroom. Music moves me. It always has.
